Literature Text

I lie here in shambles
In brambles,preambles.
I, am a man with no country

Though My I.D. says otherwise
With its pencil pounded lies
I pass through ports of no entry.

My ships set sail to western shores
I wonder. Will they find what they seek?
My heart sings in eastern remorse
I wake up longing and then fall asleep.

Culturally black hearted
Taught,tricked and discarded
Can't you see what you've sown ?

A bastard of appropriation
Born of some other nation
Not mine, but now my own

Green flags dress my heart. Red flags dress my wound
But neither. I find fit for me
My technicolor dreams are torn at the seams
Frayed by ambiguity.

I'm alien to my land
Foreign fiend in conceit
I walk with my soul
and depart where we meet.

MycultureisNorth
Myaccentissouth
Myreligioniseast
Myvaluesarewest

I am a man with no country
Fuck.
It is in the alienated that the divide between cultures can be bridged.

This poem sort of came after reading a book on Pakistanis in the UK.
